The idea behind this garden, designed by Kate Stickley of Arterra Landscape Design was to soften the rectangular nature of the lot. This was achieved using circular motifs and sweeping radial arcs of stone bisecting the patio area. The idea of repetitive themes was carried through to the Bluestone patio shape which reflects that of the Pineapple stone sculpture used as the centerpiece of the water feature and garden. We built large, generous bluestone stairs to bring the house and garden together and then built a Cedar fence in a style that reflected some of the lines in the house. This garden was featured in the San Francisco Examiner in June 2009.
